As I have mentioned previously my almost 2 year old daughter, Aoife was my inspiration behind starting this blog!
On the 22nd November 2015 at 3.35pm my beautiful baby girl, Aoife was born. I was 36 weeks into my pregnancy so to say her arrival was a surprise is a bit of an understatement! We figured she didn’t want to miss out on the baby shower that was planned for that day! Unfortunately for me going into labour on the day of my baby shower meant that everyone nee I was at the hospital! I was inundated with messages from the moment she was born!
I had a very good birth in terms of the medical side of things, I went into labour naturally with contractions having started the day before without me realising what was actually happening 🙈 I just felt a bit niggly! My waters also broke naturally by themselves at 3.26pm, a whole 9 minutes before Aoife arrived! I had no tears or stitches. And the only pain relief I got the chance for was gas and air! The only thing that was a bit iffy was the exit of the placenta which took an hour and 6 minutes to release! Took me longer to birth the placenta than Aoife in the end haha!
Keeping the birth story brief as I am planning a more detailed post in line with Aoife’s approaching 2nd birthday! But I can’t believe come the new year I could be going through birth a second time!
I’m hoping this time round to be able to have a more active birth, as I spent most of the time pushing the first time lying on my back with a monitor attached to me. I also am really hopeful to try and have a water birth! Aoife was diagnosed with a mild heart conditions at our 20 week scan hence the monitors but this time we have been given the all clear on any heart conditions so fingers crossed! We have also decided to keep the gender of the baby a surprise! I cannot wait to meet my wriggly little surprise 😍
Thank you for taking the time to read my post! See you again tomorrow!
