Can you believe I have finally reached my due date (well technically it was yesterday) I feel a tad relieved that I am no longer in ‘I should still be pregnant’ limbo! Instead I am relishing in the fact I have spent an extra 6 weeks with my little man (it also means he will be older than I anticipated when I possibly go back to work!) Some of the positives to an early baby!
Weight – Not entirely sure of his weight atm. At last weigh in he was 5lbs 14oz (so 10oz over birth weight). That was about 2 weeks ago. We have a health visitor appointment next week where he will be getting weighed and I have no doubt he is gaining well!
Clothing size – He has now grown out of his tiny baby clothes and is comfortably in first size and newborn clothing!
Shoe size – No shoes just yet 😂
Nappy size – Cassius is in reusable cloth nappies. We are comfortably fitting in newborn nappies still! We are using a mix of Tots Bots, Close Pop In (my fave!) and EBay Cheapies!
Teeth – No teeth just yet thank goodness!
Favourite Things – There aren’t many things newborn babies love but I would say Cassius’s favourite things are boob and sleep. He also loves cuddles!
Dislikes – Cassius hates having a wet/dirty nappy and becomes fussy when he needs a change. He also hates having his clothes taken off and his nappy changing!
At the moment he spends most of the time asleep. Although we are starting have more and more awake time. At night he will wake every 3-4 hours.
Bedtime – Strictly speaking he doesn’t have a bedtime I just bring him up with me when Aoife goes to bed.
Wake Time – As above not strictly a sleep routine yet. We normally get up around 7.30/8ish.
Naps – Every couple of hours.
Milk – Cassius is currently exclusively breastfed and goes about every 2 hours in the day and little bit longer at night. We bedshare at night to make the feeds easier to manage!
Food – No food yet!
Exciting things this month
Not really any major milestones this month. He has been cleared of having any issues linking to his jaundice. We have had to go into hospital a couple of times for jaundice checks and blood tests relating to jaundice but have been given the all clear and told he just has physiological jaundice which is a relief!
I look forward to writing more of these posts! The next one will be when Cassius is around 3 months old 🙂
See you then!
