Aoife @ 3 Years Old

A whole week has passed since Aoife’s 3rd Birthday so I thought I would do a bit of an update on the skills and things that Aoife is currently doing! I personally love these posts as they make a great way of saving a memory for the future!

Aoife is an incredibly chatty, sassy little three year old, or as she would say “my big girl mummy”! She has her own bedroom and bed and does start of the night in her own bed. Her general bedtime routine is along the lines of; chill downstairs on tablet with Daddy after dinner, followed by coming upstairs with me to put on pyjamas, go to the toilet and brush teeth. Sometimes a bath is thrown in there depending on the day, I tend to bathe the kids twice a week depending on what they have been up to! Then Aoife and I squeeze into Aoife’s tiny toddler bed for a story, then it is lights out and some googie (aka breastmilk) to sleep. Aoife is currently only* feeding at bedtime and occasionally on waking now. (*I say only but I do on occasion wake up to her feeding and wonder how the hell she managed to latch on and get into bed without me realising!) Aoife doesn’t wear a nappy to bed (hasn’t since she potty trained in May!) So we do take her to the toilet during the night. She is actually very good at waking up and saying she needs the toilet!

Now let’s talk about some favourites…

Favourite TV Show – At the moment is between Blaze and the Monster Machines, Fireman Sam, Paw Patrol, PJ Masks and Peppa Pig.

Favourite Book – Elmer the Elephant has been a firm favourite for a while. I’ve actually bought a set with 10 Elmer stories in for a Christmas present for Aoife!

Favourite Nursery Rhyme/Song – Baby Shark is often sang by Aoife but she is also a fan of Row Row the Boat, 5 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed, Incy Wincy Spider and When Santa Got Stuck up the Chimney!

Favourite Film – A current favourite is Julia Donaldsons Stick Man. I must admit it is one I don’t mind watching as it’s a lovely animation.

Favourite Drink – Water! Always has been. She will not entertain anything else (other than breastmilk ofc)

Favourite Foods – Chocolate. Chocolate Biscuits. Chocolate Ice Cream… as you can see there is a theme haha! She is also a fan of Waffles, Fish Fingers, Pop’s (Luke’s dad is an awesome cook!) Roast Potatoes, Sweet corn and Tinned Beans and Sausages!

Favourite Games – Currently Aoife is very into Role Play games that involve being a doctor; I am often being asked “Mummy you no feel well?” and having a stethoscope pushed against my chest, a handyman; Aoife recieved a battery powdered drill, hard hat and goggles for her birthday!, or a shop customer; I am often told “you be shop man mummy! Hello, shop man” as she pushes a trolley full of groceries around the upstairs haha. She also loves her kitchen, for her birthday she recieved a wooden coffee machine so I get lots of pretend Hot Chocolates made for me! Other favourites toys include her train track, cars, puzzles, craft kits and dolls house!

Aoife is currently attending sessions with a childminder and is incredibly social, she comes home telling me all about her day and her best friends!

It’s pretty cool having a pre-schooler (I guess I can’t call her a toddler anymore), you know apart from the telling me no and the tantrums! She is like having a little friend I can chat to all the time. She gives me cuddles and tells me I am beautiful (even when I look like a dog!) and recently we have bonded over reality tv in the form of I’m a Celebrity! She was very concerned during the trial that involved lots of snakes!

That is all from me! I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this post as much as I have writing it! Let me know in the comments what you think!

  5. She sounds like a lovely girl. I remember my daughter loved playing role playing games at that age. So great that she is asking to go to the toilet in the middle of the night!
